I was browsing the current selection of what passes for toys these days and I in all honesty I was a little discouraged. The action figures no longer have the arms and legs moving and the little projectile weapons and attachments. I remember having toys like - Stretch Armstrong (Which could easily be used to whip your friends), wood Burning Kits, Robotix, and Garbage pale kids (Awesome cards) but now its all safe its rather sickening.
What toys do you remember and or use to have?
Generation toys.

I had Barbies
Tons and tons of barbies that my sister and I used to play with 24/7. We also had the Garbage Pail Kids cards, which my mother thought were terrible lol. We also used to play with the little matchbox cars.. my dad would set us up a track and we'd roll those cars for hours.
A favorite game that we used to play with my dad was balling up paper and tossing it into a trash can in another room or several feet away, to see which of us could get the most "points". We were easily amused I guess
Choking hazards nowadays prevent the really cool toys from being played with until kids are a certain age, which I can understand, but those that you mentioned, Elijah were really cool.

I had toy guns, and pellet guns, they still have those today though, however the age to buy them has changed a bit, you can't buy them at age 10 here

Hmm I grew up with a really cool older brother that let me shoot guns..shot my first shotgun when I was 8! GEEZ that hurt...but he also liked to shoot me with his BB gun...hmm, he might have been a bad influence.
Anyway, we liked to set up little toy cowboys and Indians about 12 feet apart and launch marbles at each others sides to see who would "lose"...or any action figures would do on hand actually..but he liked to set those on fire...those transformers never had a chance...

Strangely? I gave alot of my toys away but I still have many in my room.
Lol, since it's hard for me to part with them.
I have alot of barbies, and some my parents wouldn't let me touch cause of the value they have. -.- Since they are "collectable" Barbies.
Homemade doll house family.
Glass China dolls.
Lotsss and lots of beanie babies.
Haha.
Little cars my dad would tape coins to the top so it would run faster.
My brother had one of those game boys that was only in black and white.
And when he got that? It was like soo in and one of the most newest things you can buy your kids. Now I don't think they even make them. Lol, anyways, I loved that gameboy. _< and old play station games.
And my parents would buy me alot of art kits cause I liked to be creative.

I still have my old GBA from when I was in kindergarten. Still works like a charm, still play Pokemon on it (currently Nuzlockeing Ruby, and I have a copy of Blue Version).
Also hanging on to a bunch of fun little Transformers (like the one that turns into binoculars. He was my second favorite, outclassed only by Bumblebee, whom I never owned....)
I have a bunch of fun little wood puzzles as well, which are still hard as hell to solve.
I'd have my old Rubik's keychain if my brother hadn't busted it and lost half the pieces......
I remember (and still have, somewhere) my old Pikachu figurine.......
And yeah, a lot of "toys" these days are....disappointing.....
Transformers are still cool, though........
As are Legos, and the Halo figures are still pretty articulate (although the guns don't fire for obvious reasons
)
And Nerf Gun are still fun as all hell. The new Vortex guns or whatever are also pretty cool. Plus they make Nerf swords, axes, and maces.
So I guess it depends on where you look and what you are looking for.

Yeah, it sucks when the only major place to buy toys in a reasonable distance is Walmart.
There's an old decommissioned railroad car in a nearby town near where I live that's been repurposed as a toy store that sells a bunch of old fashion toys, it was awesome.
