Childhood Movie Nightmares

Post which movies gave you constant nightmares as a child. I have "only" two: Piranha (1978) and The Howling (1981). The dreams would come in two forms: being eaten by killer fish (I would jump up and down on the floor while going to parents room ~screaming; "OW!!!!"), or being chased by many werewolves trying to attack me.

I wish to thankyou filmmakers for giving me those "fun" dreams...

Jaws, I saw that when I was 7. After that, I refused to shower, hated going to the toilet. Always imagined Jaws was going to come up and bite my ass. I even hated the shower, still thought this huge shark was going to come up from the drain and eat me. I even slept with my arms and legs in the bed, never putting anything over the side, in case of shark. LOL I was terrified for ages.

Salem's Lot, after that movie, I was too scared to look out any dark windows for fear that there would be glowing eyes looking back in at me :O

Pet Secretary
Nightmare on Elm St.
Night of the living dead

I grew up as a horror fan but only those films have entered my dreams.

Pet Semetary, The Exorcist (Linda Blair), Candy Man were but a few. Growing up as early as I can remember, 3 years old or earlier, I would watch horror films with my Grandma or my Aunt. Grandma collected Stephen King and Dean Koontz books and my Aunt just loved scary and freaky movies. I have grown to love them aswell.

I remember being afraid of the first Scream movie when I was a kid.

What Lies beneath, scared me shitless as a kid and something that's not even a horror but I refused to watch as it freaked me out was Disney's Alice in wonderland.

I think I was afraid of the dark even before the movies...(I'm susceptible to most horror movies)
but one of the things that crept in my dark (and dreams) was an X Files episode about lepers. I don't even remember the episode but I remember a train full of lepers and a big hole in the ground where some officials would dump them. And there was this one leper that was alive and kicking and following Mulder and Scully ...

After that, dark corners stopped being empty for me...

When I think about it know, maybe I should check to find that episode again, maybe it'll seem ridiculous now!! hmph

I watched both what lies beneath and Alice and wonderland a couple of years ago and everything i had been frightened of, just seemed utterly ridiculous at that point. :L

I remember being scared of Free Willy when I was really young. Cause I didn't like the whale. Then I watched it again years later and seemed to be fine.

nah, I googled it to see if I can find the episode, turns out it was easy and the first wiki about it I checked had this picture of the pit with all the lepers in it, it was pixelly and small but it was all there
- will leave it for better times... :)

I remember IT being scary as a kid too...now, I just think it's trippy fer me...

Salems Lot. I would have to say gave me nightmares as a kid. Just the boy scratching on the window.. I mean I think of it now I still shiver. I can't lie even Night of The living Dead just the thought of the beginning bein in a cemetery and Zombies. Not my fav place to be when a Zombie outbreak happens if you think about it. Ahhh no. Anyways those 2 had to be the worst.
