I'm interested in seeing what people like and what people don't like so far with Coven Wars. The game is going to continue to evolve with many new features planned for the future.

Here's the deal. Please write me a review for Coven Wars. It doesn't matter how long it is. Have 1 section devoted to things that you LIKE, 1 section devoted to things that you DISLIKE and 1 section devoted to things you WOULD LIKE ADDED.

Don't be afraid to hurt my feelings in your Dislike section. Obviously if there's something that isn't quite right in the game then i'd love to fix that and constructive criticism is welcome. Thank you. :D

Coven Wars is a really well-balanced game, from what I see so far. From the few days I've been playing, I've noticed money is hard to come by, but not impossible. There is a system to search for other users you'd like to fight with, although there lacks a way to "save" your search preferences. The color scheme is nice as well. The forums are well-organized (even though there aren't many topics), but do look like they could use some sort of upgrade. One thing I also noticed is that when you reply to a topic, it redirects you to the first page of the thread, and not your actual post. Most forums, not all, have it to where it redirects you to your post when you submit the post. The Quick Stats is also a very lovely addition, although I do wish the "heal" button would automatically heal you when you clicked on it (presuming you have the funds). But that's just something small. One thing I did notice, is that when you edit your profile, it asks for your age, location, etc. I noticed that on your actual profile, none of this information actually appears. Also, in the battle area of the site, I noticed that we have alignment, but it doesn't appear in the list of people you can attack. That's about all I can think of for now.

All in all:

What I like:
- Money is hard to come by, but not overly painful to get.
- The Equipment is neither too expensive nor too cheap.
- The Quick Stats section is a very nice reference.
--- The health bar is absolutely amazing.
- The Recent Topics section is very nice.
- The fact that there is a Search bar on this site.
- A timer notifying you of when you receive more turns and health.

What I would like to see improved:
- Some kind of way to save your battle preferences, at least for a short period of time.
- Clicking on a topic in the Recent Topics section, and having it redirect you to the last post of that topic.
- Perhaps having the "heal" button in Quick Stats heal you automatically (as long as you have the money.)
- Maybe adding "Age", "Location", and "Favorite Quote" to a person's profile, viewable by everyone, unless the person states differently.
- In the Battle section, maybe add another little area, showing what alignment each person is, so those who want to stay either good or evil can decipher which is which without an extensive investigation.

That's about all I can think of right now.

In addition: I just noticed that you wanted three sections, and I kind of consolidated the second and third ones into one section. Sorry!

Saving battle preferences (cache) - Yes
Recent topics going to newest page. I wouldn't think either way matters much. Remember that some old topics are new to some users and they would like to go to the first page and not the last. And since it's been like this for so long for most of these users, they would think that page was actually the first :P. I hope you understood that.
Heal making you go straight to the heal page is something I also would like. Just with some way to show how much money it would cost (Without making the layout look bad)
I thought we had this already, guess not O_o
Alignment showing with people is good :P

Ok ... my suggestions. I think you already know :D. The dropdowns and a way to remove the help files editor >.> (When you figure out how to without editing my coding :()

So far I am really liking the game. There is so much potential here. I would touch on what I like, but most are the obvious things. I will jump to what I think needs to be placed in, or switched slightly.

- It would be cool, that when you gain that last little bit of exp for your coven to rank up, that you get a little notification. Like when you gain a level, in the battle it says "Sabs gained a level!" Well, it could say, "Your coven gained a level!"... It just adds that little extra. And knowing you ranked up that last little bit is cool. Already in there. :8 It wasn't noticeable at first though.

- There should be as mentioned a better cache system for your battles. Once I click away from battles, it's no longer there.

- Showing alignment of each person in battle would be nice, it's hard to pick a path and stay on it, when attacking people not knowing their side.

- Somehow having something show coven leaders when there is an application would be nice, having to check the front page is easy to forget. Whether it be a notification in our news, or a number in the coven pane up top, anything really.

More to come, I forgot to write things down as I thought of them. :P

I quite like the game...

I like the idea of a clean chat (After thinking about it greatly, after questioning why we can't use a permanent option for colour).

- I like the idea of earning coven exp when you battle, to help the covens level. Then if you level the coven, it gets acknowledged on the coven page, and when you did it, it tells you too.

- More chats, like one for help, where new players can go and ask for help. A role-play chat, where people can go to chat...

- A new way of getting exp without having to battle...

- Having a better training system - like having a 3% chance of getting a good train, than a bad train...depends on what you think is a bad train what not.

- Should have a marrying feature on here - where its free to marry, and a fee to divorce...may trap people but it could be fun. :)

But the game is really good at the moment, I hope it becomes better ;)

We had more chats, they were removed because they'll never be used. Even a help chat will not (unless this site gets huge), since they're just go to gen.

I think we all want more ways to spend turns / get exp :D

Don't know what you're asking as a better system, right now I believe it's just a times .01, .02, or .03 (or something similar)

I'm loving every thing about this site at the moment.

Except, More of my money is going on healing then I'm getting for attacking, so I end up hitting brickwalls, attacking once everyhour and waiting for the revive because I can't afford to heal.

So, I was thinking, to help new players get out of this seemed neverending hole, Why not have free revives for level 5- players, to ease them in to the game. And, if you win a battle, you get 75% of HP lost in that battle back.
It would mean that everyone has to heal at somepoint, just not after every turn.

You have to attack the right players, attacking your own level at the start isn't the best idea because you have to heal so often. Attack lower levels.

For the first few levels this can still be a problem, I do attack lower levels, receive less money and lose about half my HP.

I still think the free revive for level 5 and below should be looked at.

I know this is something minor, but when you play Hangman, it's extremely hard to tell if a word is two words or one. If there could be some kind of way to determine if it's two or one word...

The game is a pass time, there's the predicaments and resolutions. The one thing that I can enjoy about this game is the idea that I am able to become stronger, and not having to worry, nor fret about others passing me.

Somethings that I loathe:

—The training system

Something I believe should be added:

—A market to sale weapons, AP, etc.
—Coven "wars".
—Better, fairer training. As fairer goes, it promptly means the ability to lose one of those zeros so there's at least a chance to gain a stat instead of 0.745, etc etc.

Thus far both complaints and praises can rendered, regarding the site as a whole. Noting that there is always be improvements in the eyes of another, as for my personal qualms with everything over course of my time here. I am surprisingly pleased with having only handful of changes that I would like to be made, stating the list as thus:

*Training should pay off in ones stats, more then hunting. (Acquiring ranks allows stats to build faster, than one who trains mostly)
*Coven forums should be group based. A forum layout within the forum, hence allowing topic's and theme's to be created. (Example: Coven forums: forum thread -Social-: within the 'social' forum thread. Minor threads could be placed and groups, thus eliminating congestion within the single forum.)
*For coven owners and co-owners: A way to view members that have not logged into the site, so that they can kick non-active members.

Where there is flaw, there is always praise.

*Staff of the site.... AWESOME.
*The gradual increase of the site activity
*The organization of the tabs
*The site leaves you wondering.... What's next?

Basic nonchalant things over all but all worth mentioning, Fairness is normally only granted to those that are friends with the Creator and Staff. Though here all are treated as equals, regardless of notarization.

1. Scot doesn't want those who sit and train for months to have an advantage over those who play and hunt regularly. Training should be less than attacking.

2. I really like this idea, I cannot speak for my Coven forums, since they are new and clean, but on WoC, after seeing an active clan in the forums, it gets to crowded and important things get missed, this would help sort that all out. :)

3. You have a great point! :D

And as for the last bit of your post, I'm sure I speak for all the game staff in saying thanks.

"Training should pay off in ones stats, more then hunting. (Acquiring ranks allows stats to build faster, than one who trains mostly) "

Leveling up to gain stats, instead of training them, only works on a short - term basis. You end up with people 5 levels below you being able to take you out.

Luckily for me, a lot of people thought this way, which is why I could kill people much higher than my level, gain good exp. from them, and get where I am now. ( Check out the Hall of Fame, you'll see I have much lower 'wins' and 'win ratio' than others. )

IMO the stat gain through training is fine. I think we just level up a bit too quickly. Of course that gets more difficult the higher your level - as I'm finding out :P
12/10/10 2:22 pm
Then if the prominent means of advancing is to be'Hunting', wouldn't it be therefore wiser to eliminate the training section altogether? Training indicates strengthening one own personal stats, through rigorous usage of turns. If hunting is the primary source, then by leave the training option up. Leads players into a false hope that (like all the previous game that are turn based they may of played) training allows you advancement, when on here it is merely a 'Siren's Call'. Something that appears to be one thing, then in the long run winds up leading you to your demise. Seeing as it takes 300 turns to now acquire a +1 to a stat, shouldn't having to use more turns for something be more rewarding then less? 300 turns can rank a player I think twice a day until rank 14.

300turns X rank 1(EXP 25) =7500EXP

just hunting low levels will allow a player at an early stage to acquire +6 to their stats, yet like most new players. They figure that training to acquire 'SOME' sort of stats prior to hunting is the wisest option. Would likely use all 300 turns towards their stats. Hence deceiving them into the belief that training is beneficial, when in actuality its far from it.

The usage of turns, should always be more rewarding than the benefits of acquiring the next rank. So if the balance is to remain at a tilting scale, then one should be removed.
12/10/10 3:34 pm
If it was promoted that training was better than actually leveling, then there would be so little activity on here. Many would be sitting there, training all 30 turns everyday, which takes under 1 minute to do. So then they would have no reason to stay on, or become better. When all you do is sit and train your statistics, it gives you stats that are better than your level. You can then start attacking those that are 3+ levels above you, which isn't fair to those who were actually playing the game. When we level here, we get 3 AP plus, our stats gain a 1% effectiveness. So at level 20 now, I have a 5% more effectiveness on my stats, as opposed to someone at level 15. (If I understand correctly that is) The point, is to close the gap on those who train lots. With my +5% effectiveness, over the other guy, he shouldn't be able to win as easily.

Either way, training is good, many get busy, but still want to be able to play, so they train. Many train, just so they can attack those higher leveled and gain exp faster. Training is good to have in the game, I train, but only when I've killed those I could, and have some turns left over.
12/11/10 5:12 pm
Training is fine right now, I usually train instead of attack and have about 13 stats higher than Vlad (If I was the same level). And I can kill him rarely even though I have no weapons too >.>
12/14/10 3:16 pm
I have to agree with everybody else, especially about the batting. Coven battles would be nice to see. I think it would be fun to have an avatar to mess around with, like on WoC and TM. I've always enjoyed those.

Regardless, it's the internet. Telling an owner of a game to shut it down because he's running it the way he intended to run it, yeah... not logical.

I don't know what happened, nor do I care to. But I will say my peace on it. Doesn't matter what site you go to, there will always be people who act out, talk crap, and then there are the other people just trying to enjoy themselves. But one thing is for sure, the owner of these sites, they will run it the way they want to run it. If they deem something necessary to do, be it jailing someone for acting out or what have you, then they have every right to do so.

On to the topic at hand.

I'm still saving up for the whole marriage thing. I figured maybe, instead of having to pay for it, possibly just change it so that a player has to be so many days old before being able to get married? I'm all for the feature.

Training - not a fan of the decimal system, but it feels like it's taking way too long to train up on stats. That's, without buying stats.

Chats - that's a plus. I thank you for bringing back the role play chat.

That's all I can really put for now. Still moving around the site and learning everything, just haven't had enough time to go through all of it but I'll probably post again when I have the chance.

I would like to see:

-more quests, not only daily quests, but more lengthy one time quests that may take awhile to complete.

-more achievements. the more the merrier

-more weapon and armor options; more than one weapon/armor combo for a level, which would add another dimention to combat. What I mean here is have multiple weapons and armor for each assigned level upgrade, which would have different bonuses and subtractors. For instance, have 3 weapon choices for a level 10 player, each weapon costs different amounts and has different bonuses associated with it. Maybe one has a higher damage but isn't effective against a certain armor. Vice Versa, have an armor that has a higher resistance to damage but can be more easily defeated by a certain weapon (ie. a different weapon than the higher damage one)

-more purchase-able items with in-game money, and perhaps a way to earn more money like using your turns to work so you can afford said items.

I'm sure I can come up with others, but that's a good start for now. Otherwise, I like the game so far, and see a lot of potential in it.

NightKiller - There actually is a way to use your turns to Work for Money. :D

well hunting I spose, it would be nice to have something that earns a little more money, but ya, you're right. Arcade games too, but that takes more time than I would wish to spend just to get a few bucks. I do understand why you would make it hard as an incentive to purchase premium memberships. I'll admit it, I'm just a broke a$$ looking for a way to not have to spend real life money to be able to afford stuff like starting a coven. sigh.
